Eye Disease and Other Scary Stuff
Here is my 2 year old black lab pup - Andy - saying “hi”.
So today was one of those days I have been dreading for a while. Perhaps you have heard the term inter-ocular before? Maybe in a horror movie? It was one of those fears that grip me and don’t want to let go. Having an injection right into the pupil of the eye.
I have a rare genetic disease called chorodial neovascular membrane syndrome and it could result in the loss of my vision at some point. Today I had this injection to try to stop the effect of the lastest flare up of the disease.
So when you are dreading the next blood work needle (something I have to do every week for coumadin checks) keep in mind that at least you are not getting it in the eye.
It wasn’t as bad as I had imagined it would be. They numb the eye in three or four different ways before they do it. The worst now is how the eye feels several hours later, like I have a big wad of curly hair stuck on my eye and can’t get it off. But I will say, if this saves my vision, give me a whole bushel of these shots, because it will have been worth the pain and hassle.
