Keeping Up Your Motivation
Here is a lovely shot taken in the White Mountains of NH in November.
So here we are in the grip of winter in the northeast. It is very difficult to get some exercise outside in the twenty degree day with a bit of wind as well as cold air. Maybe I will just take the dog out and walk around the yard, throw his ball and venture around the block or two.
I am very lucky to live in a secure and private neighborhood where walking the dog is easy and sometimes even a social activity if some of the other folks I know are out and about.
I think I will take advantage of the clear day. I recently invested a small amount of money and purchased a wrist blood pressure and heart rate monitor. It seems to work well and is giving me consistent readings of about 140 over 74. This is great for me.
My husband is the reason I bought the device. He was out of work for an extented time period and had to go for a pre-employment physical. He was so nervous and upset that he might fail or something bad happen to prevent him from getting the job that his blood pressure went up to a rate of something like 170/110.
Now it is down to about normal so I am relieved but I check his and my own pressure more regularly and feel a bit better. I am also thinking about buying a pedometer and increasing the number of steps I take per day. Any suggestions on types or brands?
