Start Easy with 30 Minutes

How about a nice walk in the woods for a start?

If you can find 90 minutes a week, you can start a fitness routine that could help keep you fit for life.  You can start by simply taking a half hour walk in the woods at a pace that keeps your heart moving fast and your breathing deep and rhythmic.

Don’t make the mistake I made in the not-too-distant past when I tried to lose weight too quickly and ended up puking my way through the first few sessions.  This does not add to the experience and can turn something pleasant into something you dread.

Another tip, if you really cannot handle the snow and ice, try good, old fashioned dance DVDs that are designed to get you moving in all the right places and ways.  I used to love working out to old Jane Fonda videos from the 1980’s.  She knew how to get you moving without breaks or fractures.

Whatever you like to do, start with three times per week and move up to four in six weeks or so, when you start feeling the dopamine rush exercise gives you as a nice little present.
