Motivation and Variety
Variety is the key to keeping yourself motivated for exercising especially in the winter when it is sometimes too cold to get outside. This week we are expecting temperatures to dip into the negative integers. The only outdoor time I will get in this weather is taking the dog in and out. Even Andy, my black lab, will be reluctant to chase his squirrels in this Actic freeze.
Indoors, I will be working with my hand weights and if I can dust off the pedals and peel all the overcoats, blankets and other assorted garments off the handlebars, I may take the stationary bicycle for a spin.
I have worked out with this device in the past, but I get bored very easily doing this, even when I am watching television simultaneously. I have found that peppy music is the best thing to listen to, so finding a video music channel the best match for my interests. What about you?
One thing I do know about myself, I will need more variety in my routine and will think about doing some mall walking for a change of pace next week, when I realize I am getting nowhere fast on the stationary bike.
