Skin Like Parchment
We have been talking about the effects of winter and very cold weather on the body and how to stay protected. One of the worst problems I have in the winter is that the skin on my hands in particular, gets so dry, there is nothing I can do - no moisturizer known to man - that can relieve the dryness.
I have tried Eucerin in its various formulas and even know a friend who uses a pig fat compound that he swears by to relieve dryness. Apparently, farmers who have to be working outside in all kinds of weather will use actual pig or animal fat grease on there hands to protect them from the cold.
That may be a bit extreme but my hands get so bad I am afraid to handle paper because a paper cut is almost an inevitability. So the best advice I can offer other than a messy helping of pig fat to the hands is a consistent vigil of extra strength Lubriderm applied every time your hands are exposed to water or cold or both.
