This summer, be sure to play it safe on your weekend excursions.  Here are some tips for keeping safety as your number one priority:

  • Don’t forget the sunscreen whereever you go.  Graduations, parties, beaches and picnics mean lots of sunshine and potential sun damage.  Wear it daily just in case you get some unexpected sun.
  • Weekend warriors need to stretch and take is slow and easy until you get used to a new (or old) activity.  Hamstrings, thighs and arms need lots of warm up regardless of the outdoor temperature.
  • Drink lots of non-alcoholic drinks.  Water or green tea are terrific in the summer heat and will hydrate, cool you and give you refreshment.
  • Dress for the weather.  One vacation recently, we all went walking up in Maine and no one had a sweatshirt.  By the time we got back it was pouring and about fifty degrees.  We all had chills and it could have been worse.  Think ahead.
  • Protect your senses.  Wear goggles for mowing, ear plugs too.  Protective kneepads are great for many sports activities and be sure you are wearing the right kind of shoes for the event or activities.

Have a wonderful, relaxing and safe time this summer.
