Fade to Fall

Summer is slowly fading into the distance as I write these words.  The second exhibition football games are on tv tonight and the trees are already starting to have a sparsity of leaves that I didn’t notice a couple of weeks ago.  I have a cherry tree that is turning a bit yellow on some leaves and my grass has slowed the frantic growth of mid-July.  Another year has come and will be gone in a few months.  I hope it has been and continues to be productive.

I have had a year chock full of death.  Sadness has gripped me three times over from March until now and I see things in a more retrospective light.  I vow to make each and every day an exciting adventure and to do nice things for others as often as I can, including writing this blog.

Enjoy the last vestiges of a ripe harvest and prepare for the winter to come.  Enjoy your family and invite your friends over to celebrate the start of the fall season.  I am looking forward to the autumn, my favorite time of the year.  Be well.

I also am looking forward to the oncoming of a new season. It has been a mild summer here in Georgia. I am looking forward to the cool breezes of autumn and then the coming of the migrating birds. I live near several small lakes and ponds and the ducks migrate and stay for quite some time. I enjoy watching their flight. They say spring has sprung and brings new life. But as autumn sets in, it hosts in many beautiful colors and wildlife that I enjoy it as much if not more.

    Take care,

    Brian, the old man

Thanks for your comment Brian. Fall here has a bittersweet element. The beauty and warmth are so fleeting and then the trees are bare and the snow is falling. I want to enjoy the last bit of summer, but the heat and humidity keep me indoors too much. Be well, Therese
